With
the 1983 decentralisation laws, communes
of Corsica in France gained the ability
to create, operate and develop boating ports,
while départements became responsible
for numerous commercial and fishing ports.
The State retained direct responsibility
for ports of national interest and took
jurisdiction of autonomous Corsica
ports.
